Shirley Lee Baldwin is a native Virginian and earned two degrees from the University of Virginia. Her middle grade series Feathers, Treasures & Sandy Paws evokes the charm of life in a small village where one doesn’t have to be wealthy to be rich in friendship.
She spent her formative years in a multi-generational household with elders who reminisced about life in the good ol’ days during the Great Depression, World War II, and the cultural revolution of the 1960s. From as early as the fourth grade, family folklore and great teachers sparked her interest in storytelling.
Her yearning for travel led to a twenty-year career overseas in places once hidden behind the Iron Curtain, locations where safaris begin at one’s doorstep, and colorful gateways to the magnificent Himalayas.
She returned to the foothills of the ancient and mystical Blue Ridge Mountains where she writes stories inspired by the whispers and giggles of her muses.
Her marvelous tales are sure to delight readers young and young at heart.
